Gong contract ending? You have a 30-day grace window.

Export All Your Gong Calls Before Your Contract Ends — CallExporter

Years of customer conversations — recordings, transcripts, AI notes, scorecards — disappear 30 days after your Gong contract expires. CallExporter pulls the complete archive to your own storage using your own API key, verified call-by-call with a checksummed manifest.

Start with a free audit

Before you commit to anything, run a free, read-only audit of your Gong archive. It lists your calls and reports the exact count, total size, time to export, and which plan fits — and it downloads nothing and sends us nothing.

$ callexporter audit --from 2019-01-01
  calls found 4,812 2019-03-11 → 2026-06-10

How it works

  1. 1. Generate an API key

Any user with Gong's technical administrator role can create an API key in a couple of clicks — available on every Gong plan, no add-on required.

  2. 2. Run the export

CallExporter runs locally on your machine. It walks Gong's official API within its rate limits, streams call media straight to your Google Drive or S3 bucket, and checkpoints so it can resume after any interruption.

  3. 3. Receive a verified archive

Every call lands with a checksummed manifest and a completeness report — your receipt that nothing was missed, suitable for legal and compliance retention.

What you get

A complete Gong data export at end of contract — everything your team produced, in open formats you control.

Built on the Gong bulk export API

There is no "export everything" button in Gong's UI, but there is an official API: list calls, fetch extensive metadata, batch transcripts, and download Gong recordings from signed media URLs. CallExporter automates that entire pipeline — cursor pagination, 3-requests-per-second rate limiting, the 10,000-call daily quota, expired-URL refetching, and crash-safe resume — so you don't have to write and babysit scripts during your exit window.

Frequently asked questions

Does exporting my calls violate Gong's terms of service?

No. The export runs against Gong's official API using your own technical-administrator API key — it's your data, retrieved the way Gong intends. Gong staff publicly recommend the API as the path for departing customers to take their data with them.

How long does a full export take?

Metadata and transcripts for ~5,000 calls complete in under an hour within Gong's API rate limits. Media is bandwidth-bound: budget one to two days wall-clock for 0.5–1 TB of recordings. The tool checkpoints continuously and resumes exactly where it left off.

Which Gong plans have API access?

All of them. API keys are available on any Gong plan — the only requirement is a seat with the technical administrator role. The "API is a paid add-on" rumor is outdated.

What happens after my contract expires?

Gong keeps your data retrievable through a 30-day post-expiration grace window. Once it closes, API access ends and the archive is gone. If your renewal date has passed, start the export now.

Is it secure? Where do my credentials go?

CallExporter runs entirely on your own machine. Your Gong API key and storage credentials never leave it — nothing passes through our servers, and we never see your calls or your data.
